The DNA origami development was one of the more interesting discoveries in the DNA nanotechnology field permitting the formation of around 100 nm nanostructures with exquisite control of the size and shape. My line of research is focused on developing new prototype of nanomedicines base on DNA origami technology. The concept is based on the use of precisely folded DNA nanostructures multi-functionalized at specific locations with a variety of antiproliferative and gene silencing drugs and molecules for enhancing cellular uptake. The therapeutic agents will be engineered in the nanostructure and expected to be liberated as the structure is internalized.
