{"id":7824,"date":"2022-02-22T16:17:10","date_gmt":"2022-02-22T15:17:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.iqac.csic.es\/intergenerational-crenco-project-visits-idaea-and-iqac-laboratories\/"},"modified":"2026-06-16T11:11:15","modified_gmt":"2026-06-16T09:11:15","slug":"intergenerational-crenco-project-visits-idaea-and-iqac-laboratories","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.iqac.csic.es\/en\/intergenerational-crenco-project-visits-idaea-and-iqac-laboratories\/","title":{"rendered":"Intergenerational CRENCO project visits IDAEA and IQAC laboratories"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today, the <a href=\"https:\/\/agora.xtec.cat\/iesfrancescmacia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Institut Francesc Maci\u00e0<\/strong><\/a> and the <strong>Casal de Gent Gran Gavarra Cornell\u00e0 de Llobregat<\/strong> visited<a href=\"https:\/\/www.idaea.csic.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <strong>IDAEA<\/strong> <\/a>and<a href=\"https:\/\/iqac.csic.es\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <strong>IQAC<\/strong><\/a> laboratories within the framework of <a href=\"https:\/\/crenco.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>CRENCO project<\/strong>.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>CRENCO is a non-profit project that aims to create an intergenerational educational model to be implemented in schools.<\/p>\n<p>The visit was the last stage of the project, which had consisted of making nanotechnology closer and more appealing to them. The first part of the project was carried out online by <strong>Jordi D\u00edaz<\/strong> and <strong>Enrique Conches<\/strong> responsible for the <a href=\"https:\/\/elnanoescopista.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Nano Project<\/strong><\/a>, and in this last stage, the participants (23 students and 5 elders)\u00a0 visited two IQAC groups \u00a0to know some of the applications of nanotechnology \u00a0in our lives:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iqac.csic.es\/research\/departments\/surfactants-and-nanobiotechnology\/nanobiotecnology-for-diagnostics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Nanobiotechnology for Diagnostics<\/strong> <\/a>group, <strong>Pablo Salvador<\/strong>, <strong>Juli\u00e1n Guercetti<\/strong>, <strong>Juan Raya<\/strong>, <strong>Carla Ferrero<\/strong> and <strong>Nerea Castro<\/strong> explained the use of nanoparticles for the development of diagnostic devices of different diseases, such as COVID19.<\/li>\n<li>In the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.iqac.csic.es\/research\/departments\/surfactants-and-nanobiotechnology\/biophysiscs-of-lipids-and-interphases\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>\u00a0Byophisics of Lipds and Interfaces<\/strong><\/a> group, <strong>Olga L\u00f3pez<\/strong> and<strong> Mercedes C\u00f3cera<\/strong> showed them the challenges they face when designing new skin cosmetics.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"alignnone\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After that, the group accompanied the researcher <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idaea.csic.es\/person\/maria-lopez-olive\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Maria L\u00f3pez Oliv\u00e9<\/strong><\/a>, from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idaea.csic.es\/research-group\/environmental-geochemistry-and-atmospheric-research-egar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Environmental Geochemistry and Atmospheric Research (EGAR)<\/strong> <\/a>group (IDAEA), to the air quality monitoring station, where she has explained how they investigate air pollution. Specifically, she focused on particulate matter and how they collect the samples for detailed analysis. Finally, the group have visited the animal facility service (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cid.csic.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>CID-CSIC<\/strong><\/a>), getting to know the zebra fish for experimentation and toxicological studies.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the visit, the participants observed the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.idaea.csic.es\/outreach\/bcn-art-ambient\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <strong>BCN Art-Ambient<\/strong><\/a> mural recently painted in our building, that brings together science, art and gender.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong>IQAC-CSIC Communication<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today, the Institut Francesc Maci\u00e0 and the Casal de Gent Gran Gavarra Cornell\u00e0 de Llobregat visited IDAEA and IQAC laboratories within the framework of CRENCO project.
