Surfactants and Nanobiotechnology department

Department Head: Ramon Pons

Research in the Department of Surfactants and Nanobiotechnology (SNT) is based on the study of (bio)molecules, nano(bio)materials and supramolecular systems, both at the structural and functional level, with the aim of improving human health, food safety and environment quality. Our research focuses on the synthesis, characterization, detection or application of bioactive molecules of high scientific interest (antibodies, oligonucleotides, proteins, lipids and surfactants), as well as in the preparation of nanostructures and their biofunctionalization. Moreover, the department’s research is also involved in theoretical and practical aspects of the development of chemical products and processes, especially regarding physicochemical properties and biocompatibility of surfactants.
