IQAC is committed to the creation of technology-based companies (spin-offs) as a strategic route to transform excellent chemical research into industrial assets with socio-economic impact. This valorisation model enables the knowledge generated in our research lines—focused on understanding biological processes and developing diagnostic and monitoring methods or molecular therapies—to be translated into real solutions that reach the market.
Currently, the institute has two spin-offs that exemplify the success of this commitment:
Bicosome SL: founded in 2024, this company is a pioneer in the dermocosmetic and pharmaceutical sector. Based on a technology platform patented at IQAC, it uses bicosomes (bicelles within liposomes) to transport and release active ingredients in a controlled and precise manner into the layers of the skin, improving the effectiveness of treatments for various skin conditions..
CO2Breakers SL: established in 2025, this initiative arose from collaboration between IQAC, the Institute of Nanoscience and Materials of Aragon (INMA) and the University of La Laguna. The company develops innovative technologies and equipment for the decomposition of carbon dioxide (CO2), offering solutions to the challenge of the energy transition and environmental sustainability
