My name is Sergio and I am a PhD student in the Biotechnology program at the University of Barcelona (UB). I hold a Master’s degree in Advanced Microbiology and a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. My research focuses on the development of new biocompatible surfactants and the study of their biodegradation, physicochemical properties, biological activity, and self-assembly behavior in aqueous media.

I am currently conducting my thesis as a predoctoral researcher within the Biocompatible Surfactants and Ionic Liquids group, under the supervision of Dr. Lourdes Pérez and María Teresa García. My goal is to develop innovative and sustainable strategies for the prevention and elimination of biofilms, using biodegradable cationic amphiphiles and antimicrobials.
