CSIC Chemical Library

The CSIC Chemical Library is an initiative launched in 2021 following the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. Distributed across three CSIC institutes (IQAC, IIQ, and IQM), its primary objective is to foster scientific collaboration between diverse research groups while streamlining the discovery of molecules with new biological and/or therapeutic activities.
To carry out this task, the Chemical Library staff collects, organizes, and classifies molecules synthesized by researchers at these centers, making them available to be sent and tested in biological assays conducted at other CSIC institutes across the country.

At the IQAC level, an HPLC-MS system is available for the qualitative analysis of deposited compounds, as well as a robotic pipetting platform used when preparing shipments for testing.
Currently, the CSIC Chemical Library collection has more than 3,000 registered compounds.

Robotic pipetting platform (equipment managed by the CSIC Chemical Library)

This equipment offers researchers the possibility of automating liquid handling operations using the Opentrons OT-2 pipetting robot. The robot is equipped with single-channel pipettes (20, 300, and 1000 µl) and multi-channel pipettes (20 and 300 µl) to work with 96- or 384-well plates, prepare serial dilutions, PCR mixes, etc.

The CSIC Chemical Library staff also offers the possibility of designing and programming the protocol required to execute experiments on the robotic platform.
