IQAC and CIBER-BBN researchers win La Marató TV3 project for the COVID-19 detection and therapy

The Scientific Committee of La marató TV3 has chosen the project entitled “Diagnosis and treatment of the SARS-CoV-2 by triplex formation”, lead by Ramon Eritja, from Nucleic Acids Chemistry research group and CIBER-BBN, to be funded by 398.750 €.

The project wants to solve two important problems in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic: on the one hand, how to detect more quickly and specifically people infected by the virus and on the other hand, to develop an effective therapy to be used against the SARS-CoV-2. Both problems can be solved by using synthetic oligonucleotides with high and specific affinity for viral RNA.

All the selected projects can be consulted on this link.
