IQAC organizes the 5th edition of the European Biosensor Symposium

The research group Nanobiotechnology for Diagnostics (Nb4D), from IQAC-CSIC, organized the fifth edition of the international conference European Biosensor Symposium 2025 (EBS), held in Tarragona from October 26 to 29. The event brought together more than 200 professionals to present various works in the field of electrochemical and optical transducers, microfluidics, wearables, point-of-care devices, artificial intelligence, bioreceptors, biohybrid interfaces, among others.

The conference began with a plenary session led by Dr. M.-Pilar Marco, principal investigator of the Nb4D group and an expert in the development of biosensors and rapid detection tools to improve public health and food safety, and by the promoter of the EBS, Professor Dr. Frieder Scheller. Alongside them, five plenary lectures, five keynote talks, and 57 oral communications and 2 poster sessions were held.

The EBS was created as a space for students and young researchers to present their work, strengthen their visibility, and establish collaborative connections that contribute to the development of their scientific careers, as reflected in this year’s figures. Of the 242 participants, 96 were students, the highest attendance figure, only surpassed by the 2021 edition.

The next edition will take place in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, in 2027.
