The QS4Cx project awarded in the EBTon CSIC entrepreneurship program

The initiative QS4Dx: Diagnostic kit for infections caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa has been awarded in the EBTon CSIC entrepreneurship program, held last October 10th at the Institute of Agrochemistry and Food Technology (IATA-CSIC), in Valencia, endowed with €20.000.

The project was presented by Carla Ferrero, J.-Pablo Salvador and Francesc Bejarano, researchers from the Nanobiotechnology for Diagnostics (Nb4D) group. The kit is a prototype which enables to detect bacterial infections in 10 minutes and, in this way, obtain a faster and more accurate diagnosis of the patient.

“We have developed a technology based on the detection of the Quorum Sensing molecules for the rapid diagnosis of bacterial infections of the lower respiratory tract”, declares Carla Ferrero.

EBTon CSIC is a Hackathon initiative that seeks to promote the entrepreneurial spirit and encourage the transfer of knowledge through the creation of Technology-Based Companies. In 2024, a total of 21 teams with CSIC research staff from all areas of knowledge were presented. Four of these initiatives have been the winning projects of this edition: Neurodiscovery (Institute of Medicinal Chemistry), 4D-Farms (Sustainable Agriculture Institute), Tarmemet (Centro de Biología Molecular Severo Ochoa) and QS3Dx (Institute for Advanced Chemistry of Catalonia).
